Asus P8Z77-V CPU Fan Error

Asus P8Z77-V CPU Fan Error Problem: While building a new machine several months ago, I ran into an odd issue reported by the Asus BIOS, namely the "CPU Fan Error". My build consisted of the Asus P8Z77-V motherboard and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. On initial boot, I received the "CPU Fan Error" message, even though the fan was installed and working properly.

Solution: After reading the motherboard manual and scanning the BIOS settings, I learned that the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo fan often spins below the default CPU fan minimum speed. As a result, the BIOS reports this as an error. Changing the fan minimum speed from 600 rpm to 200 rpm in the BIOS eliminated the error.
